PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene products, PTFE (TFE) and Kynar manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The worldwide interest in this mineral has risen significantly, as well as supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and extremely low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is used within a good deal of applications from non-stick fry griddles to ptfe tape for personal use. This mineral is the crucial raw materials within the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and several refrigerants. This surge in demand bundled with shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double over the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to keep at it in the near future.
